League One Results 30th January Part 1

Brighton & Hove Albion 0-1 Millwall
Millwall stayed in the play-off picture with an away win over Brighton, who are still above the relegation places but only by two points. Andrew Crofts went close for Brighton while Millwall’s Jason Price sat on the bench.

Bristol Rovers 2-3 Wycombe Wanderers
After going down 1-0 down to an early penalty, Bristol Rovers did well to bring it back to 2-1 before halftime. But another penalty for Wycombe led to an equaliser three minutes after half-time and they finally got the winner in the 80th minute.
Byron Anthony played the full match for Rovers. Ben Swallow didn’t get a start but he was on for the final eight minutes. Team-mate Jeff Hughes thinks Ben is so good, he could replace him if he isn’t careful.

Carlisle United 2-2 Leyton Orient
Nicky Adams played brilliantly as Leyton Orient fought back from 2-0 down to get a draw. They might even have got a winner if Nicky’s shot hadn’t been cleared off the line but that wasn’t his fault.

Charlton Athletic 1-1 Tranmere Rovers

Charlton wanted to put pressure on Leeds and Norwich, Tranmere just wanted to get out of the relegation zone but neither managed to do it (although Tranmere would have had to win about 10-0 to go ahead of Brighton and that was never going to happen). Grant Basey played a big part in Charlton’s goal, probably getting the demi-assist. Ash Taylor got booked but he didn’t lose.

Gillingham 0-0 Walsall
I might have got it wrong because I don’t like anything that involves counting but I don’t think Walsall have won for about a month and a half. But that’s more the snow’s fault than the player’s fault. Rhys Weston did keep a clean sheet for Walsall though and Mark Bradley’s 67th minute substitution doesn’t necessarily mean he’s injured.

Leeds United 2-0 Colchester United
Leeds won their first game since beating Manchester United as they beat play-off contenders Colchester United. Christian Ribeiro as expected didn’t play for Colchester due to a groin injury with Lee Beevers also still on the sidelines with his shoulder injury. Colchester possibly should have had two penalties though.
