Sometimes being a Wales supporter can verge on being just slightly depressing but other times it’s very useful. If an Englishman had played like Gareth Bale did against the European Champions, I would be a lot more than on the verge of being slightly depressed. As it is, I do have something to be cheerful about.
Gareth was outstanding and now it’s not just the Wales media who are saying this. The Italian Press are being so nice to him, maybe he will end up thinking that living and playing and Italy won’t be such a bad idea although it will be quite a long way from Wales. He didn’t score this time but he’d have got a hat-trick of assists if one of them hadn’t been disallowed. Maicon might be the best right back in the world – but it looks like he’s just beaten by the best left back/midfield - and not just once either. I lost count but it's safe to say it was 'lots'.
