There are yet more rumours that Blackburn Rovers will lose one of their goalkeepers this summer but the latest rumour suggests it won’t be Jason Brown who’s leaving.
A recent article suggests Rob Edwards has left Blackpool but as he’s only mentioned in passing it could just be referring to the fact his contract hasn’t been extended. Not an unreasonable assumption to make but the last I heard, manager Ian Holloway was thinking of keeping Rob anyway.
Fans Online suggests that Neal Eardley will be this year’s David Vaughan. But I do kind of hope David won’t be next season’s Neal Eardley. We don’t want any moreWelsh players out with a toe injury toe. Especially not out clubbing with a toe injury.
Liverpool are said to want Mark Hughes to be their new manager following the sacking of Rafa Benitez. Mark was sacked by Manchester City last December. Imagine if Mark became Liverpool’s manager and Liverpool finished above Manchester City. I’d like that, as long as Liverpool were still below Arsenal.
Craig Bellamy’s football academy looks set to be a big success. And so does he.
Craig Bellamy says he’s expecting to be in Manchester City’s starting eleven next season – he’s pretty quick but I doubt he’s quick enough to play for them and Cardiff City too. As for his claims that he’ll fight off competition from City’s new star strikers – he did it last season and I can definitely see him doing it again.
Ryan Giggs, Joe Calzaghe, Gethin Jones and Michael Sheen were among the, er, football stars who helped the Rest of the World to their first ever win over England in Soccer Aid. The Rest of the World won on penalties but Ryan wasn’t allowed to take part as he’s not a celebrity. Joe, who was preferred to Ryan on the left wing (Ryan had to play in the centre but to be fair he didn’t exactly struggle), scored the goal that brought the score back to 2-1 before also scoring in the penalty shoot-out. Michael also scored a penalty, proving that his football prowess extends beyond playing the role of a football manager in a film. Michael was the Rest of the World’s captain. Right back Gethin missed his penalty but he wasn’t the only one.
Most importantly, Soccer Aid raised over £2.5 million for Unicef.
Jack Collison says he has a long way to go before he’s ready to return from injury.
Wolverhampton Wanderers’ David Jones is very happy with his new team-mates so far.

Welsh Player News (and rumours) 3rd June (Scotland)
Andy Dorman has left St Mirren after his contract expired.
Welsh Player News (and rumours) 3rd June (Leagues One and Two
League One
Colchester United’s Tom Bender has been told he’ll have more first-team opportunities next season.
Tony Roberts has signed a one-year extension to his contract at Dagenham & Redbridge. The newly-promited Daggers have also signed a very Welsh-sounding left back from Histon – Gareth Gwillim. Histon’s Wikipedia page says Gareth is English but he must have some Welsh blood with a name like that.
Tony was delighted when Dagenham achieved promotion at Wembley last Sunday.
Ben Davies is one of just nine players under contract at Notts County. I suppose you could argue Ben has the skills of two players but even that only brings you up to ten...
Craig Morgan wants to leave Peterborough United following their relegation to League One. Peterborogh Today thinks his departure looks likely.
League Two
Michael Flynn says he hopes to stay at Bradford City next season but he needs to ‘iron out’ a few things in his contract first.
Chesterfield’s second-choice goalkeeper Mark Crossley has been interviewed for the position of manager of Oldham Athletic.
Rob Page is one of three players thought to be in contention to win Chesterfield’s Player of the Season award. He’ll find out on Saturday as long as this isn’t a really really old article with yesterday’s date on.
Grimsby Town striker Chris Jones has been put on the transfer list. He played a part in Grimsby’s season, even scoring two League goals but then he was sent out on loan to Neath and never heard of again.
Lincoln City were hoping to sign David Stephens from Norwich City after a very successful loan spell last season. However, David is now having second thoughts.

Welsh Player News (and rumours) 3rd June (Championship
Wales Online says that clubs from six different countries are interested in signing Joe Ledley from Cardiff City. England’s Everton, Stoke City, West Ham United and Wolverhampton Wanderers, Scotland’s Celtic and Rangers, Roma, two other top clubs from Italy, Panathinaikos from Greece, and Turkey’s Galatasaray and Fenerbahce. Not to mention Wales’ Cardiff, who really want to keep him. They’ve given him an extra-big contract offer.
Wales Onlins suggests Cardiff City could afford Craig Bellamy after all.
Craig’s best mate says Craig will join Cardiff… but not yet.
Cardiff City are apparently interested in signing their former player Jason Koumas. The midfielder is a free agent after being released by Wigan Athletic.
Doncaster Rovers’ captain Brian Stock has again been linked with a move to Southampton.
Paul Parry should be fit in time for Preston North End’s pre-season training but he’ll need to be monitored closely.
Rhys Williams has been omitted from Australia’s 23-man World Cup squad. Manager Pim Verbeek says Rhys would have been included if he had recovered from his pelvis injury but he hasn’t. Rhys says he’s heartbroken about being left out but proud to have got so close to playing in a World Cup.
Rhys’ manager Gordon Strachan, meanwhile, has refuted claims that Rhys was receiving injections before every match he played for Middlesbrough
Millwall have released striker Jason Price. He spent the end of last season on loan at Carlisle United and he says he’s interested in joining permanently as he enjoyed his loan spell and he’d like to be nearer his son.
The season has only just finished but Hal Robson-Kanu is looking forward to playing in the next one for Reading.

Welsh Player News (and rumours) 3rd June (Premier League)
Aaron Ramsey has signed a new contract with Arsenal.
Fulham Chronicle puts Simon Davies on the spot
Craig Bellamy has hinted if he has to leave Manchester City, he would probably go to Cardiff City.
Michael Owen has been voted the scorer of the World Cup’s best ever goal. Unfortunately it was for England.
Inter Milan and AC Milan sniffing round Gareth Bale. Which part of ‘he’s just signed a new contract’ don’t they understand? (Well as they’re not English, possibly all of it)
West Bromwich Albion manager Roberto di Matteo is planning on making a £1.2m bid for Hull City goalkeeper Boaz Myhill. Bolton Wanderers are also said to be interested.
Wolverhampton Wanderers don’t want Wayne Hennessey to go on loan to Burnley for a year.
Yet other sources say that Wolves have offered Wayne to Burnley. They can’t both be true. But considering the sources, maybe neither of them are.

League One Play-off Final reault 29th May
Dagenham & Redbridge 3-2 Rotherham United
About ten years ago, Dagenham & Redbridge were in the Southern Premier League (or whatever it was called then, Ryman?). The following year, Rotherham United were promoted to the Championship. But here the two teams met on equal footing with a place in League One at stake – and the ‘pub team’ won it.
Dagenham took the lead three times during the match, twice Rotherham equalised. It was a very exciting match that looked as though it could have gone either way. Dagenham perhaps had the edge attacking-wise but could look vulnerable defensively – and Rotherham took advantage.
But Dagenham won and they’ll be playing derby matches against Charlton Athletic next season. Not bad.
Tony Roberts was absolutely delighted to win promotion to League One with Dagenham. The goalkeeper has always wanted to play at Wembley but until now he’d only done it as an extra in a film. Now he can boast something much more special.

League One Play-off Final result 29th May
Millwall 1-0 Swindon Town
For the first time ever, Millwall won a play-off final. For the first time ever, Swindon lost.
Millwall weren’t at their best and reports that they walked all over Swindon seemed somewhat exaggerated from where I was sitting (the upper tier, near the goal Millwall didn’t score in) but there was no doubt about who deserved to go through. Paul Robinson was again the player there to make Millwall fans’ dreams come true. My dad was so happy! Until he started worrying about Millwall getting relegated next season.
Another first was that Steve Morison played at Wembley and didn’t score but Wales’ future star was one of Millwall’s best players and caused Swindon a lot of problems over the 90 minutes, the problem was that most of Millwall’s attacks lacked an end product. Swindon had their moments too and Millwall were quite lucky to keep their clean sheet intact
If Millwall play like that every week in the Championship, I think they’ll struggle. But I don’t think they will play like that. And many say that playing below your best and still winning is a sign of success.
Jason Price wasn’t in Millwall’s squad and has since been released.
Billy Bodin wasn’t in Swindon’s squad but perhaps the young Welsham will get his chance next season. Maybe one day soon he and Steve will be playing on the same side. For Wales.
