Preston North End v Reading
Preston should be feeling quite confident after beating Leeds United 6-4 last weekend. Reading have also won their last two games but neither of them were away.
Craig Morgan will hope to keep his place in Preston’s defence. Paul Parry stayed on the bench against Leeds so he should be nice and rested for this match.
Hal Robson-Kanu could start if he overcomes the injury which forced him off against Ipswich Town. But he faces competition from his replacement Simon Church, who came off the bench and scored.
Sheffield United v Watford
Sheffield United aim to halt their slide down the table with victory over Watford. If they do, they’ll be the first team this season to beat Watford away. They have scored eleven away from home but nearly half of them were in the same match.
Ched Evans was surprisingly dropped to the bench in the midweek match but it didn’t work so maybe he’ll be back to face Watford. If he does, it’ll be the 100th appearance of his career. Not bad for a 21 year old – although he is Welsh of course and they often so start young.
Swansea City v Derby County
Swansea finally won their first away game in midweek. Derby will be hoping that this time, Swansea will lose their 100% home record. Derby have scored eight in their last two matches so you’d think they’ve got a chance. If Swansea lose, it’ll be their 400th home defeat. I don’t like to think of all those nice Welshmen losing but they do play for Swansea.
Ashley Williams could play in midfield again for Swansea after doing a good job there last week. Neil Taylor and Joe Allen also look likely to start but David Cotterill will have a late fitness test on his groin injury.
Robbie Savage will hope to make his 100th start for Derby. Gareth Roberts is still out with a hamstring injury.
