Leeds United 4-6 Preston North End
Preston probably know how Leeds feel. They were 3-1 up against Burnley and lost 4-3. But that didn’t stop Preston from fighting back from 4-1 down to win 4-6. An incredible scoreline and in some ways not a great one, considering what it says about Preston’s defence. But I bet it was an amazing match. If you don’t love Leeds.
Sanchez Watt made a 73rd appearance from the bench when Leeds were just 5-4 behind but he was unable to find an equaliser. Perhaps bringing goalkeeper Jason Brown off the bench would have helped them more because the goalkeeper they had wasn’t exactly playing a blinder.
Injuries gave Craig Morgan the chance to get back into Preston’s starting line-up. Things didn’t go that well to begin with but he tightened things up after Leeds’ fourth goal. Paul Parry stayed on the bench.
Norwich City 4-3 Leicester City
Norwich must have been glad when substitute Matty Fryatt was sent off. The player was on a hat-trick as the away side fought back from 3-1 and then 4-2 down. With him off the pitch, the fightback stopped.
Leicester opened the scoring in the 2nd minute but a goal from Andrew Crofts put Norwich back on level terms before the home side went 3-1 ahead.
Andy King played the full match for Leicester. He was originally credited with the assist for Leicester’s second goal but then BBC Sport changed their minds.
Nottingham Forest 1-1 Sheffield United
Nottingham Forest have lost just once in their last 26 home games but a number of them have been draws – this being their sixth of the season.
Chris Gunter played in defence for Forest but Robert Earnshaw’s hamstring injury prevented him from playing any part in the game.
Ched Evans was on the bench for Sheffield United. They brought him on in the 67th minute in a bid to double their lead but a minute later Forest equalised.
Portsmouth 3-1 Bristol City
Portsmouth are out of the bottom three after winning two consecutive games – their only wins so far this season. Bristol City sit between Crystal Palace and Leicester City which historically wasn’t a bad place to be but it’s not so good when you’re 23rd.
Christian Ribeiro played as a wing back for Bristol City. Brett Pitman made a late appearance from the bench.
