Swansea City 3-1 Barnsley
Swansea got the win to put them back in the play-off places – and they need every point they can get because they’re not going to get anything from a +5 goal difference. Barnsley remained with a chance of relegation after this game.
Ashley Williams seems to have got the hang of his goal-scoring lark, Now he knows you actually have to touch the ball to be awarded the goal, he’s being doing great. Swansea’s opening goal was Ashley’s second goal in three games – although if it was up to him it would be his third in four games. Ashley has scored five (or six) goals this season.
David Cotterill started off the moves for at least the first two goals from corners. David Cornell and Joe Allen were on the bench.
West Bromwich Albion 2-0 Middlesbrough
West Brom ended Middlesbrough’s hopes of returning to the Premier League with them and Newcastle United. Only a Swansea City points deduction can save them now although they’d probably need a Blackpool points deduction too. West Brom meanwhile kept their title-winning hopes alive but these hopes were wearing very thin.
Rhys Williams started for Middlesbrough and nearly took the lead in the first few minutes. Danny Coyne was on the bench.
