League One Result 20th April

Brentford 2-1 Tranmere Rovers
A win would have taken Tranmere out of the relegation zone at the expense of Exeter City but a draw wouldn’t have been enough and Tranmere were denied even one point when Brentford scored a late goal. Brentford move upto 10th, ahead of former play-off contenders Milton Keynes Dons.
With two other goalkeepers fully fit, there was no place for Lewis Price in Brentford’s squad.
Ash Taylor played the full match for Tranmere.

Southampton 0-0 Oldham Athletic
Southampton could still get into the play-offs mathematically but it’s going to be difficult. They need Huddersfield Town and Colchester United to draw against each other, then Huddersfield will need to get no more than one point from their other two games (against relegated Stockport County and Exeter City) while Colchester would need to get at most a win and a draw from their other two games.
Oldham need three points to be mathematically sure of survival but two points will almost certainly be enough due to their goal difference and there’s a good chance they’ll be okay if they don’t get any more points.
Lloyd James was on the bench and made a surprise substitute appearance at half-time. However Lloyd, who is rumoured to need surgery in the summer, was himself substituted 27 minutes later.
Joe Jacobson has already had his surgery and wasn’t available for Oldham.
