Hull City 1-4 Burnley
Burnley got their first away win of the season against a team who look almost certain to go down with them. It was all going so well for Hull until the referee decided to give Burnley two penalties. The second one was a penalty but if the first one hadn’t been given, maybe the second one wouldn’t have happened.
Boaz Myhill didn’t have his best game of the season for Hull. But no keeper wants to face two penalties from a man who has taken over 70 penalties and only missed about four.
West Ham United 1-0 Sunderland
West Ham’s win over Sunderland takes them five points clear of the drop zone and ahead of Wigan Athletic on goal difference. Sunderland are yet to reach the magic 40 point mark but it’s hard to imagine Hull or Burnley catching Wigan, never mind Sunderland.
Danny Gabbidon stayed on the bench for West Ham this time. I heard that Jack Collison had a chance of being in the squad despite his impending knee operation but he wasn’t there.
