Tottenham Hotspur 4-1 FC Twente
Tottenham were awarded three penalties, at least two of them controversial, and scored two of them as they beat FC Twente 4-1.
Gareth Bale as usual was causing the opposition huge problems and got his fourth goal of the season, making this his best ever goal tally since becoming a Premier League player. It was a beautifully-taken goal and it’s just a shame he plays for Tottenham. But as far as his country is concerned, I have no complaints.
The referee really should have red-carded those advertising boards though. Their tackle on Gareth was awful.
Valencia 0-1 Manchester United
Goals were expected from Manchester United in this fixture. They only got one and that was pretty late on but at least they got three points.
Michael Owen was, surprisingly, an unused substitute for Manchester United. Ryan Giggs missed out with a hamstring injury.
