Blackpool 2-3 Manchester City
It’s a measure of how well Blackpool have done that manager Ian Holloway was disappointed they didn’t win. And Manchester City aren’t just any old team. They are second in the league and they probably don’t have many players who didn’t cost more than Blackpool’s entire squad. Blackpool matched their opponents and had a goal controversially disallowed, whilst two of Manchester City’s goals shouldn’t have stood. Even so, Manchester City needed a moment of genius in order to win it and unluckily for Blackpool, David Silva provided it. Let’s hope Blackpool are still here next season for a rematch at Bloomfield Road. Going on their performances so far, they are more than deserving of it.
David Vaughan and Neal Eardley were both in Blackpool’s starting line-up and played their part in keeping Blackpool in the game but Rob Edwards wasn’t in the squad at all.
