Charlton Athletic 1-2 Brighton & Hove Albion
Another defeat for Charlton means that their position in the play-offs places is currently the least secure although this will change if Swindon and Huddersfield lose their games in hand. Charlton’s Grant Basey was due to see a specialist about his injury but no news yet about the result. Andrew Crofts, rumoured to be included in the Wales squad to face Sweden, was on good form as his team Brighton climbed out of the relegation zone.
Leeds United 2-0 Oldham Athletic
Oldham slipped back into the relegation zone as Leeds chose tonight to remember how to win games. Joe Jacobson and Jason Price both played the full match for Oldham, with Jason not that far off bringing Oldham back into the game. Joe is shortlisted for the Maccabi Awards, after being last year’s winner.
Milton Keynes Dons 1-3 Millwall
A win wasn’t enough to send Kenny Jackett’s Millwall back into the play-off places but they kept up their pressure on their rivals by beating MK Dons, who were formerly in line for the play-offs themselves. Jermaine Easter – who didn’t score against his former side – thought he should have had a penalty but the referee didn’t agree.
Norwich City 2-1 Southend United
One relatively late goal and one very very late goal denied Southend a win at leading club Norwich City. Sanchez Watt missed out on playing for Southend as his head injury was deemed too severe for him to play.
Swindon Town 4-1 Stockport County
Stockport’s goal in the third minute of first-half stoppage time brought the score back to 2-1 and could have kept them in the game. But Stockport goalkeeper Owain fon Williams was beaten twice more with Stockport unable to muster any further goals. All the same, Stockport will be hoping Owain isn’t in the Wales squad. They’d really miss him if he wasn’t there.
Tranmere Rovers 0-2 Huddersfield Town
Tranmere remain out of the relegation places despite losing to Huddersfield but for their sake I hope Ash Taylor comes back from injury soon. Tranmere have done so well to fight their way away from immediate danger and Ash has been a key player for them.
Walsall 0-1 Yeovil Town
Yeovil ended their run of three defeats without a goal in the best possible way. Yeovil are now in 13th, a respectable if still worrying six points from the relegation zone. Shaun MacDonald and Owain Tudur Jones both came close to increasing Yeovil’s lead but one goal proved enough. Arron Davies came on as a very late substitute.
Wycombe Wanderers 0-0 Southampton
Wycombe got themselves another point against superior opposition (as is going to happen in nearly all your wins when you’re 23rd) as they drew with Southampton. The Saints were again without Lloyd James.
