Fulham 3-0 Burnley
Simon Davies was back in the starting line-up for Fulham and although he was substituted after 62 minutes, this could be more due to good sense than injury. He might even have scored if Damien Duff’s pass had been better.
Given Fulham’s good home form and Burnley’s abysmal away form (Gareth Bale has got considerably more away points than the Burnley team), the win might have been expected but with Fulham struggling with injuries, this could have been Burnley’s big chance. And without the two arguably offside goals, Burnley maybe could have got something from this game. But once you’re 2-0 down and both the goals appeared offside, probably any team would give up hope a little bit.
Manchester City 2-0 Bolton Wanderers
Craig Bellamy missed the match because of his long-standing knee problems but he should be fit to face Stoke next week. Unfortunately the other players did well in his absence and Manchester City came away with a win. Sam Ricketts played the full match in defence for Bolton but he was out of position at centre back so that’s probably why he passed to Adebayor by mistake. And Adebayor missed that time anyway.
Wigan Athletic 1-1 Stoke City
Jason Koumas was again not in the matchday squad so he missed Wigan’s draw with Stoke City. Rumours are he could be moving to former club West Bromwich Albion on loan.
Wigan led for much of the match but Stoke were unbeaten in six games and they weren’t about to let this one get away. They brought it back to 1-1 on 74 minutes and kept on going for a winner. Ryan Shawcross played in defence but Danny Collins was on the bench.
