Championship Results 21st November Part 1

Barnsley 1-0 Cardiff City
Sneaky Barnsley waited until Cardiff weren’t looking them scored a last minute equaliser. Joe Ledley was one of several Cardiff players to have grown a moustache to raise awareness about men’s health issues like testicular cancer. And that’s a lot more important than scoring goals.

Coventry City 1-1 Crystal Palace
Coventry left Freddy Eastwood on the bench and got what they (probably) deserved.

Leicester City 1-0 Plymouth Argyle
Andy King scored in the 4th minute of stoppage time to give Leicester the win. Bringing Nicky Adams on in the 84th minute can only have helped.
Plymouth’s Carl Fletcher was on hand with his best Thierry Henry impression but he was caught and he gave away a free kick.

Middlesbrough 1-1 Nottingham Forest

Gordon Strachan looked on course for his first win with Middlesbrough. So I said they’d better hope Forest don’t bring Robert Earnshaw off the bench. The Forest management term must have been listening as they did bring Rob off the bench. And guess what he did!
Rhys Williams was naughty and got a yellow card but he also came closest to getting a winner for Middlesbrough. His team-mate Danny Coyne stayed on the bench.
Chris Gunter played for Forest after recovering from a viral infection. He got fouled a lot but he probably wasn’t feeling strong enough to retaliate. But is it really a compliment for his manager to tell him he plays like a 35 year old? Only if the 35 year old he means is Ryan Giggs.

Reading 2-1 Blackpool
Simon Church was initially credited with Reading’s goal but then some other guy stole it. Then he went off injured. It really wasn’t a good day for Simon. I hope he’s not badly injured.
David Vaughan and Neal Eardley both seem to have recovered from the injuries that prevented them from playing for Wales (not that they were needed exactly) with David playing and Neal on the bench. I read a news item linking David with Real Madrid . I’m not sure it’s supposed to be serious but I believe it.
