Crystal Palace 1-0 Middlesbrough
Have you noticed something? When Middlesbrough were managed by the Welshly-named Gareth Southgate, they were one point from the top of the table. Now that other bloke’s taken over, they aren’t even in the play-off places. Even the presence of Rhys Williams in the side didn’t help. Yes, I do know Rhys plays for Australia now but this blog is for ex-Wales players too and you can’t see he’s not one of those. Middlesbrough’s other ex-Wales player, goalkeeper Danny Coyne, was on the bench.
Leicester City 1-2 West Bromwich Albion
Andy King played for Leicester but came off after 44 minutes. It looks like he’s got a broken arm. Even more worryingly, the Telegraph says he limped off. Was he walking on his hands or does the Telegraph have a very thin grasp of anatomy? Either way I hope he’s better soon.
Newcastle United 3-1 Peterborough United
Craig Morgan played the full game as Peterborough lost to Newcastle and went bottom of the league. Unfortunately I can’t think of anything funny to say about it but I shouldn’t think the Peterborough fans can either.
Nottingham Forest 1-1 Bristol City
Forest’s Robert Earnshaw made his comeback from injury on 73 minutes. He nearly scored ten minutes later and if he had maybe Bristol City wouldn’t have equalised. To add insult to injury (although I hope his injury is completely better now) the goal didn’t even come from one of Bristol City’s Wales players, Lewin Nyatanga, who played the full game, or Gavin Williams, who came on after 58 minutes.
Chris Gunter played for Forest and got another yellow card. He seems to be collecting them. They are a very pretty colour but maybe Chris should try collecting bus tickets instead. I think they’re yellow too. He is a brilliant right back though and it’s good to see him getting first team football.
Reading 1-1 Ipswich Town
Simon Church saved Reading from the indignity of losing to Ipswich – an indignity that has only been suffered by one team this season. If I were Ipswich’s manager Roy Keane (and I’m actually quite glad I’m not), I would try bringing Troy Brown off the bench.
