Mark Hughes was sacked today from his position as Manchester City manager. It all sounds a bit mad to me. They’re up to 6th, they’ll be one point behind 5th if they win their game in hand and while the title would be a struggle, they’re certainly not out of the Champions’ League race. His striker singings Craig Bellamy, Carlos Tevez and Roque Santa Cruz were all on the scoresheet today and if Shay Given had an off-day be'd still the goalkeeper most of the league seems to be kicking themselves for not buying. Craig Bellamy is one of six players who has gone to the chief executive to protest about the dismissal.
It does however leave us in the interesting situation whereby the two most popular first names for Premier League managers are Alex and Roberto.
