Arsenal 2-0 Stoke City
It was probably a good thing for Arsenal that Ryan Shawcross was ruled out with injury – as it was, they still had Danny Collins to contend with in Stoke’s back four. And guess who scored Arsenal’s winner? It was Aaron Ramsey! (No, that isn’t wishful thinking.) Aaron came on after 54 minutes to replace Emmanuel Eboue, who saved one of Andrei Arshavin’s shots on goal. Not quite the thing to do when he’s on your team.
Aston Villa 3-0 Hull City
Boaz Myhill watched his replacement Matt Duke have a torrid time in goal. Matt has mostly done well on Bo’s absence though. James Collins wasn’t risked by Aston Villa.
Blackburn Rovers 0-0 Liverpool
Jason Brown watched from the bench as Blackburn played their second consecutive game against a Big Four side without losing.
Manchester City 2-1 Chelsea
The good news? Chelsea lost. The bad news? Manchester City won. The worse news? They did it without Craig Bellamy.
West Ham United 0-4 Manchester United
All the young Welsh players seem to admire Manchester United’s Ryan Giggs and rightly so. West Ham’s Jack Collison was the recipient of a generous backpass from Ryan that nearly gave West Ham the lead. But once Ryan remembered he wasn’t playing for Wales (if only!) Manchester United were soon on top. The next time Jack tried to score, Ryan made sure he was in the way. Ryan’s next attempt at an assist went to a member of the right team – and resulted in a goal.
West Ham defender Danny Gabbidon didn’t have a great game but he was playing against Manchester United.
