Championship Fixtures 6th February Part 1

Blackpool v Leicester City
Both these teams are just outside the Champions’ League places so they’ll both want to win this one (not that there can be many games they don’t want to win). Blackpool’s Neal Eardley is a big doubt with a hamstring injury so Rob Edwards could keep his place in defence. Midfielder David Vaughan would also expect to play for Blackpool but Daniel Nardiello might have to be content with a place on the bench again.
If Andy King can get back to scoring for Leicester as often as he was towards the end of 2009, Blackpool could be in trouble. But if he doesn’t play this time, he is sure to get plenty of chances over the next nine weeks as Leicester have a bit of a fixture pile-up.

Bristol City v Coventry
Bristol City are another side who looked like promotion possibilities early on but they haven’t scored since 16th January and perhaps understandably seem to be still suffering the after effects of conceding seven Cardiff City goals within the space of a week – six of them in the same match.
Gavin Williams hasn’t been getting into the squad recently but (unless he has some injury I don’t know about which I doubt as he has been playing for the reserves) it might be worth recalling him although Bristol City’s defence, which included Lewin Nyatanga, certainly didn’t do too badly in defence in last week’s 0-0 draw with Middlesbrough.
Freddy Eastwood’s scoring run for Coventry has been hampered by illness and more recently a knee injury but he could be fully fit for this game.

Doncaster Rovers v Reading
Gareth Roberts scored again for Doncaster last week so they can’t leave him out. John Oster provided the assist so you can’t leave him out and as Doncaster are a former side there’s a fair chance he’ll score against them, that’s often the way. Brian Stock wants to get back into the Wales squad so I definitely think he should play. He’s not quite at his best yet but he is making a difference I think. Simon Church should be in Reading’s squad but as he hasn’t scored for a while he might not start.
