Watford v Notts County
Watford should be very afraid. Not so much by Notts County’s Carling Cup form but Notts County fif knock Wigan Athletic out of one of FA Cup last season and Wigan were quite good then.
Jonathan Bond will probably be on the bench again for Watford.
Ben Davies got lots of goals and assists for Notts County last season. He broke his assist duck at the weekend but the first goal is still to come.
West Ham United v Oxford United
West Ham don’t have a single point this season, never mind a win. Oxford thrashed Bristol Rovers 6-1 in the last round.
Danny Gabbidon will hope to keep his place in West Ham’s defence but Jack Collison will be out until the New Year.
Oxford’s Rhys Day is out with a long-term knee injury.
Wolverhampton Wanderers v Southend United
You might say Southend could do without this sort of distraction but it must have been a very nice distraction in the last round when they beat Bristol City.
It looks like Wolves are going to give some fringe players a chance in the Carling Cup. So let’s hope that means Wayne Hennessey in goal and possibly new signing Jake Cassidy will get on the bench. Dave Edwards and Sam Vokes (who’s on loan at Bristol City anyway) are both injured but maybe David Jones will get to play despite being a first-team regular.
Peter Gilbert won’t overcome his ankle injury in time to play for Southend.
