League One Results 14th August 2010 Part 2

Huddersfield Town 0-0 Tranmere Rovers
Tranmere didn’t think they could beat Huddersfield by playing football – so they tried to draw by stopping them from playing football. It was sneaky but it worked.
Tranmere have signed Kayleden Brown on loan from West Bromwich Albion. He made his debut after 74 minutes and helped reduce Huddersfield to ten men when he was on the receiving end of a poor tackle. I bet it hurt but it is kind of a compliment to be tackled. They wouldn’t bother if they didn’t think Kayleden was good.

Oldham Athletic 3-0 Notts County
This result left the two teams involved at opposite ends of the table. Oldham will be delighted with their six points from two games after a difficult 2010-11 season, which some thought would be repeated this time around. As for Notts County, their plan to get to the Premier League has probably gone off course a little bit.
Again Oldham didn’t take the oppotrtunity to put the transfer-listed Joe Jacobson in the shop window. Ben Davies played the first 71 minutes for Notts County and looked pretty lively, making good attempts on goal as well as setting up his team-mates. But County just couldn’t find a way though. True, Oldham’s goalkeeper did play very well but it must be a bit of a shock for the team who knocked Wigan Athletic out of the FA Cup last season.

Plymouth Argyle 1-1 Carlisle United
Carlisle were probably glad to get the longest away trip of the season out of the way but they must have wished the referee had blown the whistle just a little bit earlier. It wasn’t until the fourth minute of stoppage time that Plymouth found their equaliser – Carlisle must have thought the three points were all theirs. But Plymouth fought back and managed to get something for their troubles.
Carl Fletcher played well for Plymouth and came very close to scoring.
Carlisle left Jason Price out of the squad after the striker suffered a thigh injury in training.
