Swansea City 4-0 Preston North End
Swansea were probably quite fond of Preston after they pipped Cardiff City to a play-off place the season before last but they didn’t let gratitude get in the way as they gave Preston a good thrashing.
David Cotterill – who also scored for Wales this week - got the winner for Preston with a 56th minute penalty. Ashley Williams – also on the scoresheet for his national side - helped Swansea to gain a clean sheet while Joe Allen made his return from a shoulder injury after 65 minutes. David Cornell and Neil Taylor were unused substitutes.
Craig Morgan played in defence for Preston North End but he didn’t do quite as well for his club team as he did for Wales although he did nearly score. Paul Parry made an appearance from the bench at half-time but Preston were already 3-0 down by then.
Watford 2-2 Coventry City
Watford will be very disappointed with a draw after being 2-0 up in the 87th minute but Coventry fought back, getting manager Aidy Boothroyd a point against his former club.
Jonathan Bond was on the bench for Watford.
Freddy Eastwood played more than an hour for Coventry but he couldn’t find the net this time.
