Chelsea v Stoke City
Rhys Taylor is probably Chelsea’s third-choice goalkeeper while Petr Cech is out but he won’t be on the bench unless he kicks Henrique Hilario and Ross Turnbull in training. Which I’m sure he won’t do.
Stoke are without the suspended Ryan Shawcross which gives Danny Collins a greater chance of starting. Whether it gives Stoke a greater chance of winning is an entirely different matter. I do think Danny is brilliant but Didier Drogba is quite good too.
Reading v Aston Villa
They’ve beaten Liverpool. They’ve beaten Burnley. They’ve even beaten West Bromwich Albion. But Carling Cup finalists Aston Villa are (obviously) a completely different team. Simon Church didn’t find the net for Wales but he’s on good form for Reading and was nominated for the Championship Player of the Month award. Simon is expected to start ahead of Shane Long, who returns from suspension.
James Collins knows all about Simon’s goalscoring threat and is sure he won’t give Villa’s defence an easy time. James didn’t train yesterday – the poor boy had probably only just got back from Wales – but he’s expected to be fit.
