Aldershot Town 0-2 Burton Albion
Burton continue their very impressive debut season with a win over fellow promotion-contenders (yes, Burton are indeed promotion contenders, in Sophieworld anyway) Aldershot. Thisisderbyshire suggests Tony James got the assist for the second goal. BBC Sport disagrees but either way, he certainly played a part in the goal.
Bournemouth 1-0 Morecambe
Bournemouth stay in second place with a win over Morecambe. Rhoys Wiggins overcame a knee injury to play in defence for Bournemouth. Darren Moss kept his place in Morecambe’s starting line-up. Burton’s achievements this season have been great but let’s not forget Bournemouth. They can’t sign players so they’re existing on a squad of fourteen.
Bury 0-0 Dagenham & Redbridge
Bury are out of the top three on goal difference and Dagenham are now four points behind the play-off places. But this was a very good game by 0-0 standards and the season isn’t over yet. Tony Roberts was on good form made a great save right near the end to keep Dagenham in the game.
Cheltenham Town 0-1 Chesterfield
As Chesterfield climb into the automatic promotion places, the looking over one’s shoulder time appears in earnest for Cheltenham. They are now just four points behind Grimsby.
Josh Low should get his wish then. The Cheltenham midfielder – who came close to an assist - said if Cheltenham stayed up, he wants it to be because they’re good enough rather than because Grimsby and Darlington are worse. Cheltenham have really got some work to do now.
Robert Page helped Chesterfield to the clean sheet while Mark Crossley sat on the bench.
Grimsby Town 3-0 Shrewsbury Town
It’s official. Grimsby are no longer dead and buried. Shrewsbury have resurrected them in style. Their unbeaten run was 25 games long – that’s longer than Gareth Bale’s non-winning run - and for any player who missed today’s game, the run could continue when they return.
Maybe, just maybe, those 15 draws were worth it.
Will Richards was on the bench for Shrewsbury, who remain in the play-off places despite the defeat.
