Wigan Athletic 2-3 Birmingham City
Look at the result and have a guess. Did Jason Koumas play for Wigan or did he stay on the bench?
He stayed on the bench of course.
Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-1 Bolton Wanderers
It’s a good thing there aren’t any Wales matches coming up because all the regular Wales goalkeepers are on the bench apart from Brentford’s Lewis Price who wasn’t even in the squad. If you want to find a Welsh goalkeeper who’s playing regularly you’d need to go to the bottom of League One where Owain Fon Williams is playing for Swindon Town.
Wayne Hennessey is certainly no exception to the rule and he was forced to watch as Wolves got a rare win. But I’m sure he’ll play for Wolves again soon – and Marcus Hahnemann, who replaced Wayne in goal, agrees with me.
Dave Edwards started for Wolves but was replaced after 84 minutes.
Bolton’s Sam Ricketts was on the bench too. So the defeat was in no way his fault.
