Barnsley v Derby County
Barnsley and Derby look safe from relegation, with Derby six points clear and Barnsley seven points. But a defeat for either club could put them back in trouble.
Derby captain Robbie Savage thinks Aston Villa could beat Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final. I hope he’s right. He sometimes is. His brilliant columns this week include a great story about being mistaken for a gay man and meeting that rare specimen: a referee with a sense of humour.
Bristol City v Swansea City
Bristol might be in a completely different country from Swansea but it’s still a bit of a derby and Swansea will still be smarting from losing their last derby – to Cardiff. But Swansea have arguably more important things on their mind than bragging rights – they need to win to ensure they’re still in the play-off places on Saturday evening.
Lewin Nyatanga returned to Bristol City’s starting line-up to replace Christian Ribeiro, who has a knee injury and could keep his place although Christian has trained this week and could be fit to play. Christian wants caretaker manager Keith Millen to become their permanent manager.
Ashley Williams will probably start for Swansea. David Cotterill and Joe Allen are also in with a chance but they might be on the bench with David Cornell. I’m not sure about Jazz Richards. Joe thinks Swansea need to win all their remaining games to be sure of a play-off place. I think three wins should be enough but I never could do maths at 1.39am.
