Cardiff City v Reading
Cardiff are looking like certainties for the play-offs but defeat today could change all that. Reading’s games in hand keep them within shouting distance of the play-off – and technically this isn’t one of their games in hand because most of the clubs are playing.
Joe Ledley made a surprise return from his hip injuries last weekend and could start again. Joe is determined that this time they won’t miss out on the play-offs.
55 goals, conceded 55 and have guess how many points… 55. So how about a 1-1 draw? Darcy Blake and Adam Matthews could also keep their places in the starting line-up although Darcy is aware that club captain Mark Hudson might have something to say about that, as he nears full fitness. Aaron Wildig and Aaron Morris are more likely to be on the bench.
Simon Church got a rare start for Reading in the second of their Easter weekend matches. He played well and he hopes for another start. He ‘s friends with several of the Cardiff players but he won’t be thinking about that as he tries to beat them.
Some nice stats about Reading on the BBC Sport site. Of their 40 matches this season, Reading have won 15 and lost 15 (and drawn the other 10). They have scored
Doncaster Rovers v West Bromwich Albion
Doncaster’s chances of reaching the play-offs have decreased but if they win they could (depending on Nottingham Forest’s result) hold off West Brom’s promotion party… until the next match anyway.
Gareth Roberts and John Oster will probably start for Doncaster. Brian Stock won’t play in this match but he continues to hope that he might play before the end of the season. No news on his back injury but he now has a calf injury too.
Middlesbrough v Sheffield Wednesday
If Middlesbrough win, people might start talking about them getting into the play-offs again. Sheffield Wednesday are in the bottom three on goal difference.
Rhys Williams has apparently been having pelvis problems for most of the season – he was out for about a month but apart from that he’s managed to play pretty much every week and there’s nothing to suggest he won’t play in this match too. Danny Coyne will be on the bench.
