Bristol Rovers v Southampton
Bristol Rovers and Southampton are still outside outsiders for the play-offs but they’ll be lucky to catch Huddersfield Town
Bristol Rovers have a fully-fit squad so that must mean Byron Anthony and Ben Swallow are fit. I would expect Byron to start and Ben to be on the bench. But David Pipe won’t be playing – he and Bristol Rovers are discussing the possibility of parting due to mutual consent. I hope he’s able to find another club. I heard Cheltenham Town wanted to keep him on loan so maybe he can go back there.
Lloyd James will probably be on the bench for Southampton but due to his injury problems he’s likely to stay there. It’s a compliment to Lloyd though that he’s preferred to (presumably) fit midfielders like Anthony Pulis, who has been scoring for Southampton’s reserve side, and Ryan Doble. And those are just the Welsh ones.
Carlisle United v Leeds United
Carlisle are fighting for a top-half finish while Leeds are still in the automatic promotion hunt, just one point behind second-placed Millwall.
Speaking of Millwall, they have of course loaned Jason Price to Carlisle and he’ll be doing his parent club a big favour if he can help Carlisle to victory. However Jason has a hamstring strain and might not be able to play.
Sanchez Watt hasn’t yet started a match since joining Leeds on loan from Arsenal. But with Leeds’ top scorer Jermaine Beckford struggling with a lack of form, maybe Sanchez will get a chance.
Charlton Athletic v Colchester United
Charlton are four points behind the automatic promotion places so they’ll be hoping for a win over Colchester, who are out of the play-off places on goal difference.
Charlton will be without Grant Basey (ankle), while Colchester’s Lee Beevers doesn’t seem to have recovered from his knee injury. Colchester could however have Thomas Bender in the squad.
Gillingham v Brighton & Hove Albion
Gillingham might be struggling away but their home form could be good enough to save them. Brighton are now seven points clear of the drop zone.
Brighton captain Andrew Crofts left Gillingham last summer after almost ten years there although he spent almost all of his final season on loan, at both Peterborough United – League One high-flyers then - and Wrexham.
Andrew says he’s looking forward to returning and is hoping for a good reception. As he was released the fans shouldn’t be too cross with him. It’s not like he was meeting Brighton in hotels behind Gillingham’s back.
Hartlepool United v Stockport County
Stockport will be spending next season in League Two and Hartlepool could yet join them.
Owain fon Williams will be in goal for Stockport.
