Championship Results 5th April Part 1

Barnsley 2-2 Peterborough United
Barnsley twice fought back to level the scores before taking a share of the points and sending Peterborough down to League One. But they did well just to get up into the Championship in the first place.
Peterborough were without central defender Craig Morgan, who is still out with an ankle injury.

Blackpool 2-0 Doncaster Rovers
Blackpool and Doncaster were two of the clubs best-poised to take advantage of Leicester City’s stuttering form and take their place in the play-offs. Defeat for Doncaster leaves them nine points away from the chance to win promotion to the Premier League but Blackpool’s win means they are now just one point behind Leicester.
David Vaughan returned from injury for Blackpool and set up the goal that became the winner. Rob Edwards was on the bench but Neal Eardley and Daniel Nardiello probably won’t play again this season.
Gareth Roberts and John Oster both played for Doncaster but captain Brian Stock is still out with a back injury. A cross from Gareth so nearly led to an equaliser for Doncaster but the shot hit the bar instead, and three minutes later, Blackpool got their second goal.

Crystal Palace 3-1 Preston North End
Crystal Palace got a much-needed three points to take them a point above the relegation zone. Palace’s form has understandably dropped following administration and the loss of Victor Moses but survival is back in their hands.
Preston were looking safe before this match but they’re now just five points above the relegation zone. They’ll be hoping Paul Parry’s knee is better in time for the start of next season – and that next season will be taking place in the Championship. Preston might be better-placed than Crystal Palace but they’re not safe yet.

Derby County 1-3 Ipswich Town

Ipswich started off the season a way adrift at the bottom of the table but they’re now just a point away from the top half. Derby are six points clear of trouble and will probably be okay.
Robbie Savage played his second match in three days but didn’t seem particularly tired. He set up the goal to bring Derby back into the game at 2-1, but unfortunately the next goal came from Ipswich.

Leicester City 4-0 Queen’s Park Rangers

Leicester got a win just when they needed to make sure they stayed in the play-off places – and it was a pretty comprehensive win too.
Andy King scored Leicester’s opening goal, with Nicky Adams making another late appearance from the bench.
