Crewe Alexandra v Barnet
Crewe’s first defeat of the season was probably just a blip. So Crewe’s second defeat of the season might be a blip too. So Barnet, with just one point on the board, won’t be in for an easy match.
Rhys Taylor should keep his place in goal for Crewe.
Rotherham United v Cheltenham Town
Promotion hopefuls Rotherham don’t look too bad so far but Cheltenham are still ahead of them on goal difference.
Mark Bradley was impressive for the reserves so he will be hoping to improve on the 14 minutes he’s played for new club Rotherham so far this season. Josh Low has started every match for Cheltenham since rejecting the chance to become a lawyer.
Shrewsbury Town v Aldershot Town
Shrewsbury will be hoping to preserve their 100% record but Aldershot aren’t that bad – they’re unbeaten in the League.
Tom Bradshaw will probably be a Shrewsbury substitute.
Darren Jones should keep his place in Aldershot’s defence but I’m sure Aaron Morris is pushing hard to join him.
Southend United v Port Vale
Southend could be in for another season of struggle with just one point so far – although there are seven other teams with only one point so maybe it’s not a huge problem. Port Vale’s quest for promotion is going pretty well so far. They’re only outside the top three on goal difference.
Peter Gilbert’s ankle is still troubling him so he won’t get to make his Southend debut yet although he did play 60 minutes for the reserves in a midweek draw with Oxford United reserves
Gareth Owen should start for Port Vale but Lewis Haldane is probably still recovering from his insect bite.
Stevenage v Stockport County
The Blue Square Premier winners take on the team who didn’t have much to do with winning in League One last season.
Owain fon Williams will play in goal for Stockport.
Torquay United v Bradford City
Torquay needed to win a few matches towards the end of last season to get them out of trouble and they’re still at it now. A 100% record puts them top of the table, ahead of Shrewsbury on goal difference. Former Premier League side Bradford really don’t want to lose again but they might not be able to help it.
Michael Flynn was expected to be on the bench for Bradford but now it looks like he’ll be out for another three weeks. He’s been having back problems and now he needs a groin operation which is quite strange. I didn’t have a groin operation when I hurt my back.
