West Bromwich Albion v Sunderland
West Brom are expected to go straight back down and their 6-0 defeat to Chelsea last week did nothing to dispel this theory – although arguably a match against the Champions is not a fair test. Sunderland are hoping for a top-table finish so this should in theory be an easy three points. In practise, however, this is still football.
West Brom ans are apparently clamouring for the inclusion of new singing Boaz Myhill in the starting line-up after a less than perfect display from first-choice goalkeeper Scott Carson but manager Roberto di Matteo says he’s sticking by Carson.
West Ham United v Bolton Wanderers
Both teams will be hoping on an improved showing from last season but this is far from guaranteed so the result of this game could be key – if only because a loss against a possible relegation rival is likely to dent confidence.
Jack Collison’s knee will keep him out until 2011. His West Ham team-mate Danny Gabbidon will probably be on the bench again.
Sam Ricketts was on the bench for Bolton last week but maybe manager Owen Coyle will make some changes after last week’s draw against Fulham, a team not noted for their away form.
