League One Results 11th September 2010 Part 1

Bournemouth 3-0 Daganham & Redbridge
Bournemouth continue their excellent start to the season while Dagenham were unable to build on last week’s victory over fellow-strugglers Leyton Orient.
Rhoys Wiggins was the hero for Bournemouth (he really was, I’m not just saying that because he’s Welsh), getting the assists for the first two goals and getting me all excited about a Rhoys assist hat-trick. But in the end Rhoys scuppered his own hat-trick chances by shooting instead of passing. The ball went into the net and I can’t say I was overly disappointed on his behalf. It’s Rhoys’ first senior goal.
Joe Partington was on the bench for Bournemouth for only the second time this season. Now he’s fit and he’s not going to be running off to the Wales under-21s every five minutes, maybe he can cement a place on the bench before forcing his way into the team.
Tony Roberts was in goal for Dag & Red.

Brighton & Hove Albion 2-0 Milton Keynes Dons
Brighton looked like relegation fodder (wherever that expression came from) while MK Dons were hoping for another appearance in the play-offs. In the end, the two moved away from either end of the table with both ending up in the middle. Now it’s Brighton who are looking more like play-off contenders but there are still eight months of the season to go.
Jermaine Easter, Milton Keynes Dons’ captain for the day, nearly scored for MK Dons but the crossbar got in his way. Last season’s top scorer is still yet to score in the league this season.

Bristol Rovers 0-0 Brentford
Brentford looked the more likely of the two sides to get a win but Bristol Rovers goalkeeper Mikkel Andersen (sadly not Welsh) had other ideas. Playing twenty minutes with ten men can’t have helped Bristol Rovers but they managed to hang on.
I’m sure Byron Anthony also contributed to Rovers’ clean sheet.
Ben Swallow and Eliot Richards were on the bench.
Nicky Adams played his first full match for Brentford.

Charlton Athletic 1-0 Notts County
Charlton won in the league for the first time since their unbeaten run came to an end against Huddersfield United, bringing Notts County’s own unbeaten run to an end in the process.
Ben Davies won a penalty for Notts County early on but the penalty was saved and the away side were unable to score, despite being strong in attack and looking like the more likely side to grab a winner.

Colchester United 1-1 Plymouth Argyle
Colchester kept their unbeaten run going although they might have felt they’d deserved more than a point. They only had slightly more possession than Plymouth but looked more of an attacking threat.
Lloyd James was the only Welshman in Colchester’s squad and he stayed on the bench.
Plymouth captain Carl Fletcher was again missing with a thigh injury.
