Manchester United v Liverpool
Often it’s the top teams who play on Sunday so Manchester United’s status could be the reason why this match is being on the Sunday. Or maybe it’s because Liverpool played in Thursday in the Europa League. Thursday nights, Channel 5.
Ryan Giggs could replace the injured Antonio Valencia – who could be back in February. Michael Owen is also likely to be in the squad but Owen Hargreaves isn’t ready to return.
Chelsea v Blackpool
We can dream of an away win but it’s likely to remain a dream. Blackpool have done amazingly well and Chelsea probably will underestimate them but probably not enough for Blackpool to get anything from this game. I don’t like saying it but Chelsea are better than I like to pretend they are.
Blackpool won 3-1 when these teams met in the League Cup but Chelsea went through on aggregate, 5-4.
Neal Eardley and David Vaughan will hope to keep their places in the starting line-up after last weekend’s win over Newcastle United. Rob Edwards is more likely to be on the bench.
