Barnsley v Plymouth Argyle
Barnsley might now be play-off contenders instead of relegation defenders but they do seem somewhat depleted in defence. Captain Carl Fletcher scored an equaliser last week to give Plymouth hope of a point but in the end they got nothing. A point won’t really be enough this time. Even three points won’t necessarily help save them.
Coventry City v Queen’s Park Rangers
Freddy Eastwood says Coventry need more striking options. I wish he hadn’t said that. When Brentford loanee Lewis Price said Brentford needed more goalkeeping options, he ended up on the bench, if he got into the squad at all. So maybe Freddy should be careful what he wishes for. He was back on the scoresheet last week though and maybe more will come against QPR, who aren’t at their best at the moment.
Doncaster Rovers v Nottingham Forest
A few weeks ago, Doncaster might not have been all that thrilled about the visit of Nottingham Forest but Coventry and Derby have proved they’re not, after all, invincible. Not that Doncaster have been doing much winning either lately but they do have some good players including Brian Stock, John Oster and Gareth Roberts – not to mention a home advantage. Forest will have Chris Gunter but Robert Earnshaw could be on the bench again. Rob has ten goals so far this season despite spending a fair amount of time as a substitute.
Leicester City v Scunthorpe United
Leicester have lost their top scorer to a jaw injury but a win will definitely keep them in the play-off places. They still have Andy King though.
Middlesbrough v Peterborough United
BBC Sport said that Danny Coyne missed Boro’s last match and this tallied with reports that he’d picked up a knock in the last game. Yet the Middlesbrough Official site says he was in fact playing and they should know if anyone should so I can only assume he was there and BBC Sport fucked up so I expect him to play this week too.
Rhys Williams, who has signed a new three-year contract, is back in light training following a pelvic injury but he won’t play. Rhys has been excellent for Middlesbrough this season and I wish he still played for Wales! Craig Morgan will probably play in Peterborough’s three-man central defence.
