Arsenal 2-0 Sunderland
Arsenal were both lucky and unlucky in this game. They were very lucky to win a debatable penalty but unlucky not to have been so far ahead, the penalty didn’t matter. Aaron Ramsey played the full match and was a lively presence. He came close to scoring but there were a lot of Sunderland players in the way.
Everton 3-1 Manchester United
Ryan Giggs was missing – as were several others, including a number of player who were actually on the pitch – and the Champions feel victim to a side who were also having a bit of an injury crisis.
Portsmouth 1-2 Stoke City
Stoke came from behind to beat a Portsmouth side who battled well but couldn’t quite hang onto a point with Stoke getting their winner in injury time. Ryan Shawcross and Danny Collins both looked good in defence with Ryan, who wore the captain’s armband, also an attacking threat.
West Ham 3-0 Hull City
West Ham have struggled at times but on this showing, they really are too good to go down. Jack Collison came on in the closing stages for West Ham. Boaz Myhill again pulled off some great saves but on hit own he just couldn’t keep Hull in the game.
Wolverhampton Wanderers 0-2 Chelsea
Wolves played well and took the game to the league leaders but in the end Chelsea were too strong for them. Wayne Hennessey and Sam Vokes were unused substitutes for Wolves.
