Barnsley v Blackpool
Blackpool aim to continue their promotion push and as Neal Eardley has made it into the Wales squad, I think this would be a good warm-up for him. Rob Edwards is still suspended and Daniel Nardiello has a groin injury but David Vaughan, who is also in the Wales squad, will be there to keep Neal company.
Coventry City v Scunthorpe United
Freddy Eastwood missed out on a place in the Wales squad. But if he scores a nice big hat-trick today, it’s not impossible he’ll be a late addition.
Doncaster Rovers v Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace fought bravely when they first went into administration but they are now in the relegation zone. They now face a side whom I believe were in the Conference when Palace were last in the Premier League. Brian Stock misses out with the back injury that also prevents him for playing for Wales.
Gareth Roberts and John Oster missed out on a recall but they should have no such problems where Doncaster’s starting line-up is concerned. Gareth’s problems in the last match have been blamed on the distraction of a streaker (it would distract me too) while John woudn’t mind scoring against Palace as he is just one of the people they owe money to.
Ipswich Town v Bristol City
Gavin Williams has mostly only been on the bench for Bristol City – if that – in recent games. But maybe this is the game where he’ll regain his place and play alongside Lewin Nyatanga. There is a good chance that James Wilson will be on Bristol City’s bench.
