Barnsley 1-3 Plymouth Argyle
I wasn’t that surprised when Plymouth went 1-0 down at Barnsley bu Plymouth’s fightback I did not predict. And yet perhaps I should have done, as it was started off by none other then Plymouth’s Welsh captain, Carl Fletcher. His brilliant 64th minute goal was followed by two more at almost regular intervals and Plymouth took the points. I just hope the yellow card Carl received wasn’t his tenth of the season.
Coventry City 1-0 Queen’s Park Rangers
Freddy Eastwood wasn’t able to add to his goal tally in this match – although he did come close - but it was another good win for Coventry, who are now unbeaten in five. QPR’s run isn’t nearly as good. QPR are now just two points above the relegation zone whilst Coventry are just six points outside the play-offs, albeit having played more games than most teams.
Doncaster Rovers 1-0 Nottingham Forest
Not long ago, Forest were unbeaten in nineteen matches. Now they have just one win from their last four. They should have had a penalty when Chris Gunter was fouled in the box and maybe things would have been different if Forest manager Billy Davies had opted to start Robert Earnshaw, who is one of the top scorers in the Championship. But the points went to Doncaster, who deserved them. They were without the injured Gareth Roberts in defence but Brian Stock and John Oster were both excellent.
Leicester City 5-1 Scunthorpe United
Andy King played the full match as an excellent performance by Leicester saw them put five past Scunthorpe. Leicester might be out of the running for automatic promotion but the play-offs are more than possible and far more than was expected of them at the start of the season.
Middlesbrough 1-0 Peterborough United
Danny Coyne put in another great performance for Middlesbrough, getting them three points and a clean sheet. Craig Morgan played for Peterborough and it’s probably pretty good that they only let in one goal.
