Championship Results 9th February Part 2

Leicester City 0-0 Doncaster Rovers
I am not suggesting for a moment that Brian Stock intended to take out Matty Fryatt. Brian wouldn’t do something like that and he knows only too well how frustrating injury can be. But the fact that the guy who is arguably Leicester’s best player wasn’t on the pitch probably was a bit help for Doncaster. Gareth Roberts did well in defence, clearing a Leicester shot off the line. John Oster was also in Doncaster’s starting line-up with Andy King playing for Leicester.

Middlesbrough 2-1 Barnsley
A knock kept Danny Coyne out of the starting line-up so Boro now have both him and Rhys Williams on the sidelines. Brad Jones made his frst appearance in the squad since being displaced by Danny and he did well, helping Boro to three more points.

Preston North End 2-1 Sheffield United
Ched Evans played the first 64 minutes and again didn’t find the net (although he did come close) as Sheffield Utd faced a Paul Parry-less Preston.

Reading 2-1 Plymouth Argyle
Simon Church could have scored twice for Reading but he didn’t and instead it was two goals from Shane Long that helped Reading to a much-needed three points. Carl Fletcher scared Reading by bringing the score level on 58 minutes and if it weren’t for a 94th minute penalty, it would have been a draw.
