Arsenal v Liverpool
Not the easiest run for Arsenal. Having faced Chelsea, Manchester United and Aston Villa, they now face Liverpool. Who have turned into a good side again. Arsenal need experienced players really but a player with the creativity of Aaron Ramsey will be very welcome too.
Aston Villa v Manchester United
James Collins has been part of a very strong Aston Villa defence this season and Manchester United, who could recall Ryan Giggs, will be a strong test for them. Man Utd will be particularly fired up given that Villa beat them at Old Trafford.
Blackburn Rovers v Hull City
Two Welsh goalkeepers will meet in this fixture but I will be very surprised if Jason Brown plays for Blackburn. Not because he isn’t good enough, because Sam Allardyce only plays him in Cup matches. Boaz Myhill will definitely keep his place after a good display in the weekend win over Manchester City, not to mention world class displays against Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur. (If I didn’t love him already, I’d love him after those two matches.) Blackburn might be confident but if Hull play like they did against Man City, Blackburn could have a bit of a problem.
West Ham United v Birmingham City
West Ham need a win. What they don’t need is a match against the almost-unbeatable Birmingham. Jack Collison will no doubt be fighting away for them as usual and maybe this time he’ll get the goals his performance deserves. Danny Gabbidon is still out with a hamstring injury.
Wolverhampton Wanderers v Tottenham Hotspur
Wayne Hennessey and Sam Vokes are likely to be on the bench with Wolves. Dave Edwards is still out with a knee injury. Gareth Bale, in my biased view, definitely deserves to keep his place in Tottenham’s defence as I’m probably not the only person who thinks he’s been their best player recently.
