Championship Results 20th February Part 2

Derby County 0-1 Swansea City
Derby could find themselves in trouble again after another bad-tempered match. Robbie Savage this time was very much the victim – a horrible tackle could, according to the Football League Show, have ended his career. At the very least, he was very lucky he was able to get up and carry on playing. David Cotterill got the assist for Swansea’s goal with another excellent free kick. Ashley Williams, Joe Allen and Jazz Richards all started the match with only Joe being substituted – I hope that was tactical rather than because of another horrible tackle. Joe says Robbie came up to him after the Wales v Scotland game and told him he’d played well. I think it’s brilliant Robbie is so supportive of the younger players and also great that he went to the match at all when he doesn’t get on with the manager. David Cornell was on the bench.

Newcastle United 3-0 Preston North End

Paul Parry can’t come back to Preston soon enough. Being beaten by the league leaders on their own ground isn’t really too much to worry about but Preston’s league position probably still is.

Nottingham Forest 1-0 Middlesbrough
Robert Earnshaw had several chances to score his 151st league goal but Boro goalkeeper Danny Coyne did well only to let in one of Forest’s attempts on goal. Chris Gunter helped Forest to another clean sheet. For the second time in recent games, Chris should have won a penalty but he didn’t.
