Championship Results 13th March Part 2

Middlesbrough 2-2 Newcastle United
Newcastle have been flying high at the top of the Championship, whilst Middlesbrough are barely off the ground after crashing into mid-table. But Boro certainly matched their rivals and if anyone deserved the three points, it was them.
Danny Coyne made some good saves for Middlesbrough although he possibly should have done better with one of the goals. Rhys Williams made his first start since coming back from injury. He worked hard and lasted the whole game.

Preston North End 3-2 Nottingham Forest
Preston might be a bit worried about how a 3-0 lead became 3-2 but not as worried as Nottingham Forest will be. They just can’t win away at the moment.
Maybe giving Robert Earnshaw a place in the starting line-up might work. He won’t score every week but he does score often and there is a definite advantage in having a settled striking pair, rather than dropping anyone who goes a match without scoring, as has seemed to happen. Chris Gunter played in defence for Forest but Preston's Paul Parry is probably out for the season.

Reading 2-0 Bristol City
Reading could still get relegated. They’re only six points above the drop zone. But it’s very difficult to feel too worried about them. They’ve always been a good side and their Cup run has just given them the confidence they needed. And they’re only eight points from the play-offs. I’m not sure they’ll get there but they won’t be far off.
Bristol City are just a point above Reading but their form has been the opposite of their opponents’. I’m far more worried about them.
Simon Church didn’t come off the bench until the 88th minute so he didn’t have much time to score. I would have put him in the starting line-up but I have to admit, Reading looked very strong without him.
Lewin Nyatanga kept his place in the starting line-up. He’s Bristol City’s only fit Welshman apart from Gavin Williams but he’s gone to Yeovil. And you’ll never guess what he’s been up to.

Sheffield United 1-1 Queen’s Park Rangers
Sheffield United dropped further behind the play-offs after only managing a point against the admittedly resurgent QPR. Ched Evans didn’t play for Sheffield United due to a shoulder injury.
