A win for Wigan will take them seven points clear of the relegation zone while Aston Villa really need a win in order to keep pace with the other Champions’ League hopefuls.
There are no new injury concerns at Wigan which presumably means no place in the squad for Jason Koumas, who has been linked with a move to Newcastle United in the summer. Which could mean Jason will be in the Premier League while his former Wigan team-mates will be in the Championship. James Collins – who believes Aston Villa still have a great chance of Champions’ League football next season – is likely to keep his place in the centre of defence.
