Middlesbrough 2-0 Preston North End
Middlesbrough are now just six points from the play-offs after beating Preston North End.
Danny Coyne was on the bench again for Middlesbrough as Brad Jones kept his place in goal. Rhys Williams returned from suspension and prevented Preston from getting a goal late on..
Preston were of course without Paul Parry (knee).
Nottingham Forest 2-0 Crystal Palace
Nottingham Forest kept their automatic promotion hopes alive while Crystal Palace continue to flounder in the bottom three.
Chris Gunter was moved to left back and had a lively game, with Robert Earnshaw doing well up front. He would have got an assist if Palace didn’t have such a good goalkeeper. He might also have scored if a Palace defender hadn’t handled the ball and got himself sent off. Rob says he doesn’t want Forest go to up through the play-offs – why finish 3rd when you could finish 2nd?
Queen’s Park Rangers 1-1 Derby County
A point each might be enough to keep QPR and Derby up but they’ll want to win a few more just in case.
Robbie Savage was rested for the last game due to tiredness (he’s an old man, you know) and manager Nigel Clough made the decision to bring him back to the starting line-up for this match. It paid off – Robbie’s free kick became the assist for Derby’s equaliser.
Scunthorpe United 4-0 Peterborough United
If Peterborough looked doomed before, losing to struggling Scunthorpe has made things even worse.
Peterborough are still without centre back Craig Morgan (ankle) and the fact one of their defenders was substituted after 26 minutes cannot be good news.
