Championship Results 13th March Part 3

Swansea City 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday
Swansea will probably be disappointed only to manage a draw against struggling Sheffield Wednesday. They probably deserved to win but they just couldn’t put their chances away.
Swansea's Ashley Williams – Man of the Match according to Wales Online - had a chance late-on as well as making some fine blocks and David Cotterill, back from injury, tried his luck with some of his spectacular long-range shots. Jazz Richards played as an emergency left back and did well. But if he hadn’t, he’d have been more than happy to get an earful from the gaffer as it helps him to learn. David Cornell was on the bench.

Watford 0-1 Peterborough United
Not so long ago I was criticising Peterborough manager Jim Gannon for saying his team were down. (I did agree with them but that’s not the point.) But instead of discouraging his players, this piece of reverse psychology seems to have helped them to relax. And look what happened, they won a game. And not just any game either. Their first away win of the season. Craig Morgan helped them to keep a clean sheet and he nearly scored too.

West Bromwich Albion 3-2 Blackpool
This match could have gone either way and as the penalty was conceded from a foul made outside the box, it probably shouldn’t have gone West Brom’s way. It was a great performance from Blackpool, though. They just kept on fighting. And if results go their way, they could be in the play-offs by Tuesday. Not bad.
David Vaughan had some uncertain moments for Blackpool but he also claimed their first assist and FansOnLine praised his general performance. Neal Eardley showed himself to be more than just a good defender when he tried his luck at goal while Rob Edwards did his best to keep the deficit down.
