Birmingham City 1-1 Arsenal
I don’t care what they’re saying. Arsenal are still in it. And I hope there will be a Premier League medal for Aaron Ramsey at the end of the season.
Arsenal really didn’t look themselves in this match and they’re now relying on Manchester United and Chelsea to drop quite a few points. But in some ways this was the hardest game. Birmingham are just the sort of team Arsenal struggle against.
Bolton Wanderers 4-0 Manchester United
Bolton are looking safe now but they were no match for Manchester United.
Sam Ricketts is a right back but he hasn’t played there for a while. He’s been used more at left back and centre back. He didn’t have his best game for Bolton so I think he must have got a bit confused about which side of the pitch he was on.
Ryan Giggs got his first start for Manchester United since breaking his arm. He got the assist for the first goal.
Chelsea 7-1 Aston Villa
I don’t think I want to say too much about this one but Chelsea’s new goal difference isn’t exactly good news for Chelsea. As for Villa, they’re having their customary end of season slump.
With Petr Cech fit again, there was no place on the bench for Rhys Taylor, who might be still injured in any case.
James Collins played for Villa and conceded one of the penalties but I’d like to think it was very very harsh. He has since grovelled to the Villa fans on Twitter.
Hull City 2-0 Fulham
I like Fulham and I’m thrilled to see them going so well in the Europa League and I’m sure Hull are very happy to be better than Juventus. But I really wanted Hull to stay up and these three points will help.
Boaz Myhill wasn’t tested that often in the Hull goal but he made some good saves when needed
Simon Davies played in midfield for Fulham and could have scored for them. Jimmy Bullard – now there’s a player I wish was Welsh – opened the scoring for Hull against the club they bought him from. Yes, I think he did celebrate. But for him, it was a very mild celebration.
Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 Portsmouth
Tottenham are now five points clear in fourth place while Portsmouth could find themselves relegated as early as next week.
Another game, another win for Gareth Bale. He’s gone from not winning to being unable to stop winning. If that’s going to be the case from now on, I really hope he’s rested against Arsenal. Gareth got another assist.
