Reading 4-1 Derby County
75th minute substitute Simon Church scored the final goal for Reading as they beat Derby 4-1. Derby had a bit of a disaster with goalkeeper Stephan Bywater injured after 13 minutes and replacement Troy Deeney sent off after 40 minutes.
Midfielder Robbie Savage nearly didn’t play due to a foot injury but ended up taking over in goal. His first task was to face Reading’s penalty, which wasn’t scored (it was blasted over but Robbie went the right way). And he did a pretty good job too, making a couple of very good saves. He did let in two goals but plenty of goalkeepers let in two goals.
Robbie jokingly considered getting back into the Wales squad as a goalkeeper although the way things are at the moment, Wales are much weaker in midfield. He also had a text from Manchester City Roberto Mancini ‘tapping him up’. But Robbie’s not interested. He says playing in goal is boring!
