Arsenal v West HamUnited
Arsenal moved (briefly) to the top of the table while West Ham remain just three points from the bottom three. They’ll be very glad Burnley and Hull City both lost.
There were no Welshman anywhere in this match. For Arsenal, Aaron Ramsey has a broken leg and Sanchez Watt hasn’t been getting into the squads. For West Ham, Danny Gabbidon and Jack Collison are both injured again.
Aston Villa 2-2 Wolverhampton Wanderers
Villa needed an 82nd minute goal from John Carew in order to take even one point from this game. Wolves just will not lie down and get relegated.
James Collins played in defence for Villa while Wolves only had two of their Wales-eligible players in the squad.
David Jones played the full match in midfield for Wolves and it was his free kick that led to the first goal - but he was disappointed his side could only manage a draw. Wayne Hennessey was on the bench. Dave Edwards has returned to training but presumably wasn’t ready to be part of the squad while Sam Vokes was also left out.
Everton 2-0 Bolton Wanderers
Everton continue their belated quest for a place in the Europa League while Bolton, eight points clear of the drop zone, probably won’t be too worried by this result, although they won’t want it happening too often.
Sam Ricketts returned from suspension but he didn’t make an appearance until the 71st minute, when Bolton had a defender sent off. A minute later, Everton were 1-0 up. But that wasn’t Sam’s fault.
Portsmouth 3-2 Hull City
This is the cruellest result I’ve ever seen. Poor Hull. They played really well and took the lead twice through one of the players former boss Phil Brown wasn’t speaking to. But then Portsmouth, the meanies, scored two late goals in the space of two minutes.
I thought Boaz Myhill was good though. And I don’t blame him at all for time-wasting at the end, even though it got him a yellow card. I just wished he’d wasted more time really.
