Brentford 3-3 Milton Keynes Dons
MK Dons took the lead three times against Brentford but Brentford just kept on equalising. This result means Brentford are seven points away from where they don’t want to be (the relegation places) while MK Dons are seven points away from where they do want to be (the play-offs). Jermaine Easter scored MK Dons’ second goal from the spot. Perhaps if Lewis Price had been playing instead of on the bench, he would have saved the penalty. But perhaps not.
Brighton & Hove Albion 0-1 Swindon Town
When Swindon lost their goalkeeper after 12 minutes, Brighton probably felt quite hopeful. Brighton might be still fighting relegation while Swindon remain in the play-offs. But going on recent form, Brighton were unbeaten in their last five games and that’s certainly not a statistic Swindon can boast. MK Dons and Bristol Rovers saw to that.
Indeed, Andrew Crofts came very close to grabbing an opener for Brighton not long after the replacement goalkeeper had come onto the field. But it wasn’t to be. The points went to Swindon.
Bristol Rovers 0-0 Tranmere Rovers
Another Welsh player went off on a stretcher in this match as Bristol Rovers lost Byron Anthony to a leg injury in the first minute of first-half stoppage time. There’s no news yet but manager Paul Trollope that Byron hasn’t broken any bones.
On the positive side, this fixture saw Tranmere’s Ash Taylor return from injury. Tranmere have managed to haul themselves out of the relegation zone but they’re still dangerously close and must be glad to see the return of the 19 year old, who has done very well for them this season.
But it was typical Bristol Rovers really. Thrash a play-off contender one week, fail to score past a club in relegation trouble the next. Ben Swallow was on the bench.
Carlisle United 2-1 Colchester United
Jason Price embarked on his mission to help out parent club Millwall by joining a team who just happened to be facing a number of Millwall’s promotion rivals. The first stage of his mission went well. With Colchester losing as planned, Millwall were able to climb above them. Jason scored the winning goal and if he didn’t get the assist (BBC Sport doesn’t say who got it but I think it was Jason) he did play a very big part in the first goal too. No wonder all the centre halves hate him.
Colchester were still without the injured Lee Beevers, whose body parts seem to be taking it in turns to stop working.
Leyton Orient 2-0 Walsall
Orient finally managed to win without Nicky Adams and move eight points clear of the relegation places. Walsall unfortunately are moving in the opposite direction although they are still above Orient. Rhys Weston didn’t play for Walsall after suffering a recurrence of his calf injury and Mark Bradley got just twelve minutes of playing time (including the four minutes of stoppage time).
Millwall 4-0 Charlton Athletic
Bragging rights go to Millwall as they beat their local rivals and fellow promotion contenders 4-0. Millwall also scored four against Charlton in the reverse fixture but it’s a lot more fun when Charlton don’t score four too. Grant Basey didn’t play for Charlton due to an ankle injury. Millwall’s Jason Price was busy supporting their cause in Carlisle.
