Championship Results 27th February part 1

Barnsley 1-0 Blackpool
At the beginning of the season, I didn’t see either of these teams as play-off contenders but now they both are. Blackpool didn’t have a great game but they’re still only two points outside the play-offs.
David Vaughan, who is delighted to be in the Wales squad again, played for Blackpool but Neal Eardley (also in the Wales squad) only made the bench. Rob Edwards is still suspended and Daniel Nardiello has a groin injury. Rob’s and Daniel’s contracts runs out at the end of the season but Ian Holloway says he isn’t doing any new contracts until the season is over. Doesn’t that mean anyone can just walk in and take them for free? Can I have them? (For my team, I mean.)

Coventry 2-1 Scunthorpe United
Freddy Eastwood has been injured lately and Coventry have been on a bit of a run without him (losing to Newcastle doesn’t count). Again Coventry did well and deserved their win. Freddy deserved a start but when you have twelve players who deserve to start, you have two choices. Show one how to become invisible or leave him on the bench. So Freddy started off on the bench and didn’t come on until the 87th minute.

Doncaster Rovers 1-1 Crystal Palace

Doncaster looked on course for three points against Crippled Alice but ended up with a draw. Brian Stock was out with a back injury and might have to have an operation but they’re going to try him on injections. If he needs an operation he’ll be out for the season. Poor Brian, I hope he’s okay with needles. I hate needles but they are better than hospitals.
But Doncaster did okay without him, John Oster looked particularly lively. Gareth Roberts played in defence for Doncaster.

Ipswich Town 0-0 Bristol City
Ipswich did their best to put the ball into Bristol City’s goal but City keeper Dean Gerken just wasn’t having it. Even when they did get it in, it was ruled out. Gavin Williams came off the bench and helped Lewin Nyatanga keep a clean sheet for Bristol City and came so close to scoring.
