Leicester City 3-0 Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest’s away form worries continued as Leicester got an emphatic win over the automatic promotion contenders.
Andy King scored Leicester’s third goal with Nicky Adams a very late substitute. Forest manager
Billy Davies was happy with Chris Gunter – he got a yellow card but so did nine other players – saying the defence did well but he wasn’t so happy with the other players. Rob Earnshaw could have scored for Forest but he hit the bar. (Obviously I mean the crossbar. I’m not implying he nearly scored whilst out drinking.)
Middlesbrough 2-0 Queen’s Park Rangers
Middlesbrough’s up-and-down season continued with another up. Both the goals were penalties, scored six minutes apart by Scottish international Barry Robson – who will be my Scottish friend’s son-in-law one day if his four year old daughter gets her way. Danny Coyne had a great game, helping Middlesbrough to three points and a clean sheet. QPR meanwhile are hoping to help themselves to Crystal Palace’s manager.
Preston North End 3-0 Cardiff City
If the news about Aaron Ramsey wasn’t enough for Wales fans, those of the Cardiff persuasion suffered still further when their team played Preston. Adam Matthews, Darcy Blake and Aaron Wildig started on the bench. Darcy, who has had a virus, and Aaron, who has had back problems, stayed on the bench but there was a second substitute appearance in two matches for Adam.
Reading 5-0 Sheffield Wednesday
Beating Liverpool was a great move by Reading. Not only does it mean they’re still going strong in the FA Cup, it ‘s also given the players a new confidence in themselves. Reading continued their rise up the table by thrashing Sheffield Wednesday. Simon Church scored yet again. Here’s hoping he’ll do the same against Sweden.
