Brentford v Southampton
Lewis Price will probably be on the bench as Brentford take on FA Cup giant-killers Southampton. Lloyd James has been subbed off in his last two league appearances but in some ways it’s just great to see him starting.
Colchester United v Milton Keynes Dons
Lee Beevers probably won’t be back in Colchester’s squad but they do have new loan signing Christian Ribeiro in defence. Jermaine Easter was substituted in his last three appearances so I wonder if a role on the bench is on the cards.
Exeter City v Carlisle
Exeter must be disappointed with the defeat to Yeovil which followed their shock win over Leeds but Carlisle offers a chance for them to bounce back. However they have a bit of a problem in defence. They still have Richard Duffy unless he has picked up some injury I don’t know about. Rob Edwards did very well in his last game but is not expected to return from a facial injury in time to face Carlisle. Andy Marriott and Stuart Fleetwood are both good players but they’re not defenders. But if you can beat the team who knocked out Manchester United, surviving a defensive crisis can’t be impossible.
Millwall v Southend United
In my report of Millwall’s last game, I speculated about the possibility of Kenny Jackett getting himself a new striker. Well he’s done it. It is nice to get things right occasionally but it’s not great news for Jason Price.
