League One Results 26th January Part 1

Brentford 1-1 Southampton
Lloyd James put Southampton ahead with a great goal in the fourth minute, only for Brentford to equalise in the 83rd minute. It’s funny how a team’s league form often goes downhill after they’ve beaten a team from a higher division in the Cup.
Lewis Price was on the bench for Brentford. Their other loan goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny from Arsenal has asked to extend his loan but it’s up to Arsene Wenger. Arsene thiks Wojciech will be Arsenal’s No. 1 eventually but I doubt he’ll have any chances this season.

Colchester United 2-0 Milton Keynes Dons
If you’d told me about this result at the start of the season, I wouldn’t have believed you. Yet Colchester are looking likely for the play-offs and although MK Dons aren’t far off, they aren’t having the season some might have expected after doing well last season – although to be fair they did have a player sent off just after half-time.
Colchester were forced to make a substitution in the 43rd minute when Christian Ribeiro suffered a groin injury but they hung on for the win. Jermaine Easter was dropped to MK Dons’ bench and he didn’t make an appearance as a substitute.

Exeter City 2-3 Carlisle United
Exeter’s hopes of building on their win over giant-killers Leeds United haven’t come to anything although they certainly worked hard in this match, going from 2-0 to 2-2, only for Carlisle to snatch a winner in extra time. Richard Duffy played for Exeter but Rob Edwards is still out with a facial injury and Stuart Fleetwood didn’t even make the bench – instead he played in Exeter Reserves’ 3-1 defeat to Swansea City Reserves the following day. Andy Marriott was the substitute goalkeeper.

Millwall 2-0 Southend United

Millwall’s win took them into the play-off places and my dad is almost convinced that Millwall won’t get relegated. As usual, there was no substitute appearance for Jason Price although if Kenny Jackett had felt the need to make even one substitution, maybe Jason would have been the first to come on. I don’t really think so though.
